“Heavy Duty” towing service for trucks and buses (Heavy Duty Recovery Vehicle)

The Palfinger BH product range includes “Heavy Duty” recovery vehicles for trucks and buses, designed for the most demanding towing, recovery, and rescue operations of heavy commercial vehicles. These are specialized truck bodies developed in accordance with the actual needs of professional operators, while complying with all legal regulations and technical requirements necessary for vehicle registration.

In international practice, this type of vehicle is known as a Heavy Duty Recovery Vehicle or a heavy recovery truck, and is available in configurations that can be fully customized to user requirements. The vehicles are intended for companies and services providing towing and recovery for heavy vehicles, where reliability, safety, and high operational efficiency are of critical importance.

Technical design and equipment of the upgrade

Truck bodies are used for towing broken-down trucks and buses, as well as for recovering vehicles that have run off the road or been involved in traffic accidents. For towing heavy vehicles, specially designed, hydraulically controlled towing forks (underlifts) are used, consisting of a main and an auxiliary arm. The auxiliary arm allows for under-chassis positioning close to the ground, which reduces the risk of damaging the vehicle’s bumper and underbody.

The towing forks (underlift) have a maximum payload capacity of up to 26 t in the retracted position, enabling safe and controlled handling of even the heaviest vehicles.

Heavy-duty recovery trucks from the Palfinger BH product range can be configured as a classic recovery vehicle for trucks and buses, or as a combined solution with an integrated Palfinger hydraulic crane, which further expands the vehicle’s functionality.

The installation of a Palfinger crane enables: lifting and handling heavy loads, assistance in complex interventions, and greater autonomy in the field without the need for additional machinery.

Each truck body is designed individually, with complete customization to the vehicle chassis, the type of interventions, and the user’s working conditions.
